RCDs are safety devices designed to prevent death by electric shock.
These devices work by cutting off the electricity from the main switchboard when a current imbalance is measured (30mA).
An RCD is a life-saving investment for your family. They shall be connected to protect all lighting circuits and power points in the property, in order to prevent electric shock.
To ensure that the RCD functions correctly, the test button must be pressed every three months. Pushing the test button simulates an earth leakage fault and indicates if the device operates correctly.
If you’re RCD trips or will not reset, please don’t force it. There is either a fault on the circuit or with the RCD. Please contact us for an urgent appointment.
These devices are a fundamental part of your wiring system. Be weary of cheap electricians as they often use less desirable products which we are strongly against especially with critical devices such as RCD’s.

The Western Australian Government has established laws regarding the installation of Residual Current Devices (RCDs) and smoke alarms in homes before renting or selling the property.
The Western Australian Government has established laws regarding the installation of Residual Current Devices (RCDs) and smoke alarms in homes before renting or selling the property.
This means that tenants, landlords, home owners and property managers all need to be aware of their legal responsibilities when the property is sold or rented. When selling your home, at least two RCDs must be installed by the time the land transfer takes place. If you have not done this, the new owners have the right to ask you to do so. If you do not comply within a reasonable time period, they can have it done professionally and ask you pay for it.
Likewise when renting out a property, you must comply with this WA law and have at least two RCDs installed. Tenants have the right to ask you formally to comply with this law, either directly to you or your property manager. There is the potential of a $15,000 fine for individuals and $100,000 for a body corporate.
Call Power Play Solutions to have your electrical system verified as these are all part of the electrical services we provide locally in Perth.

There are many benefits of LED Lighting and they are by far the best form of lighting on the market today.
LED Lights are energy efficient, cost effective, durable and have a long lifespan. They are the latest technology in lighting and offer a great alternative to your current halogen or incandescent lights.
Replacing with LEDs is one of the many electrical services Power Play Solutions offer to their local customers in Perth, Fremantle and SOR suburbs. Below is a detailed list of some of the many benefits of LED Lighting.
Energy Efficient
All incandescent and fluorescent lights produce light that flows in all directions, wasting light as well as heat. The benefit of LED lights are that they use only 15% of the energy a standard halogen uses, provide up to 85% better light output and create less heat reducing the risk of fire.
Long Life Span
LED lights have the benefit of a long life span, up to 50,000 hours which means you can cut maintenance costs as they last up to 10 times longer than standard halogen and incandescent lamps, making them an ideal replacement.
Improved Durability
LED’s have no filaments reducing the risk of failure making them more durable, with replacements a lot less frequent.
Compact Size
LED lights come in various sizes and forms such as LED strip lighting making them ideal for fitting into those confined places or for neat concealment.
Fast Switching
LED lights switch on instantly to full brightness, this makes them far superior to standard compact fluorescent lights and metal halide lamps which fade in and out or flicker.
Safety
LED lights operate at much cooler temperature reducing the risk of fire. Halogen downlights are the cause of many house fires in Australia and are the reason most people have changed to LED’S.
Power Play Solutions located in Fremantle only use tested and approved Australian compliant products.
Environmentally Friendly
Another benefit of LED lights is that they are an eco-friendly form of lighting, they do not contain harmful gases like mercury.

Our Fremantle based electricians carry out an inspection of your property and advise you on ways to reduce your power consumption.
Simple installations such as timer switches, dimmers, sunset switches for outdoor lights & motion sensors can reduce your power consumption.
LED light fittings installed throughout your home or business are a cost effective and ecofriendly lighting solution. LED lighting uses approximately a quarter of the electricity and has a considerably longer lifespan then halogen lights.
Solar power is a massive way to reduce your power bill. Contact our local solar installers at Power Play Solutions for a free solar consultant. We can walk through the process with you and determine if or what system is right for you.

A number of reasons could cause your RCD to trip resulting in loss of power.
• Faulty safety switch (RCD).
• Damage to the wiring or insulation breakdown.
• Water damage to electrical system.
• Faulty appliances.Try These RCD Fault Finding Steps:
Step 1: Unplug every appliance in the home, garage and shed. This includes the refrigerator, dishwasher, range hood, outdoor equipment, kettle, toasters and all other electrical appliances around your home.
IT IS VERY IMPORTANT that you switch OFF the power point and remove the plug.Step 2: Turn ON the safety switch (RCD) at the switchboard.
Note: If your safety switch will not turn on after you’ve completed step 1, then you may have a fault in your wiring system or the RCD itself.Step 3: Plug in and switch ON every appliance one at a time. The safety switch will trip off if a faulty appliance is plugged in and turned on.
Note: If no faulty appliances are detected and problem persists see step 4.Step 4: A fault may be isolated to a particular circuit, switch OFF all circuit breakers and turn the safety switch (RCD) ON.
Step 5: Switch each circuit breaker ON, one at a time. The safety switch will turn off when the faulty circuit is turned on. Repeat this step with the faulty breaker left off.
This will restore some power to your house while you wait for us, Power Play Solutions your trusted local electrical company based in Fremantle, servicing all parts of Perth.
